We want the Enefit website enefit.ee to be accessible to all customers and to comply with the accessibility requirements established under § 32 of the Public Information Act and standard EN 301 549.

This accessibility statement has been compiled based on an accessibility audit conducted by an external assessor on 27.05.2025. Some parts of the enefit.ee website are not accessible and are highlighted in the section ‘Known accessibility deficiencies’.

The section ‘Instructions for using accessibility features’ describes the digital accessibility features that can be used on the enefit.ee website.

Known accessibility deficiencies

Below is a list of known accessibility deficiencies that we are currently working to resolve. We appreciate your patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

General

  • Some text lacks sufficient contrast with the background, which may make it difficult to read.
  • In some diagrams and figures, information may be conveyed using colour alone.
  • The website does not respect the text size settings of iOS devices.
  • When text is enlarged by up to 200% using the text enlargement options of the browser, some text may not be fully visible.
  • When using content enlargement options in the web browser, the cookie consent modal and the Search and Help menus may not be fully visible.
  • When using a mobile device, on some pages, carousel content can only be scrolled left and right by swiping across the screen.
  • There is no skip link to allow users to navigate directly to the main content of the page.
  • Some interactive elements may not be accessible using a keyboard.
  • On some pages, keyboard and screen reader focus may move in an illogical order or shift behind an open modal window.
  • On news pages, breadcrumbs are not marked as a navigation element for assistive technologies.
  • Some lists and headings may not be correctly marked for assistive technologies.
  • Some clickable buttons are not identified as expandable elements for assistive technologies.
  • Some images are missing meaningful alternative text.

Forms

  • Some input fields, radio buttons and checkboxes have insufficient contrast, which may make them difficult to see.
  • Form fields that collect user information do not include autocomplete attributes.
  • Error messages may not always provide sufficient information about the error or offer suggestions for resolving it.
  • Screen readers do not automatically announce error messages.

Links/buttons

  • For some links, the name announced by the screen reader does not match the visible text.
  • Some buttons may lack a visible focus indicator (for example, when navigating via keyboard).
  • Some repeated links, such as ‘Read more’ or ‘Request an offer’, are not associated with their corresponding topic titles in code.
  • Some pages contain multiple links with different names that lead to the same page.
  • Links that open PDF documents do not have a corresponding indication.

Electricity packages

  • The ‘Apartment Building’ and ‘Private House’ tabs are not keyboard-focusable, so it is not possible to switch tabs using keyboard navigation.
  • The buttons with the ‘-’ and ‘+’ icons next to the electricity consumption input field lack text alternatives for assistive technologies. The button before the input field decreases the value by 10 kWh, while the button after the input field increases it by 10 kWh.

Solar panel and battery calculator

  • The calculator does not respect the text size settings of the web browser or device.
  • The spacing of text in the calculator cannot be increased.
  • Assistive technologies may not be able to access the info buttons marked with an ‘i’ icon, meaning they cannot be opened and the additional information cannot be read.
  • If the address entered in step 1 is not found, no corresponding error message is provided.
  • In step 1, assistive technologies may not announce when the address suggestion box opens.
  • In step 1, keyboard navigation is not available for the options below the address search box.
  • In the calculator, the model in step 2 can only be moved by dragging with a mouse or finger on the screen.
  • The close button for the message ‘After submitting the inquiry, we will contact you to verify if the solution is the most suitable one for your home’ in steps 4 and 5 lacks a text alternative for assistive technologies.

Instructions for using accessibility features

Keyboard navigation

This website can also be navigated using the keyboard alone. Use the Tab key to move. Each press of the Tab key moves the focus to the next interactive element. To activate the focused element, press the Enter key.

Content enlargement

Browsers

To enlarge content, we recommend using the zoom feature built into the web browser.

All popular web browsers allow zooming in and out by holding down the Ctrl key (or the Cmd key on macOS) and pressing the + or - key. Another convenient option is to use the mouse: hold down the Ctrl key while scrolling the mouse wheel. It is possible to return to the normal view by pressing Ctrl and 0 at the same time.

It is also possible to zoom in on a page using browser settings, for example when navigating in Chrome.

Operating system

All major operating systems include settings for enlarging the content displayed on the screen.

On Windows computers, text size can be increased by going to Settings > Ease of Access > Text size.

Windows also includes a virtual magnifying glass tool called Magnifier. To enable it, navigate to Settings > Ease of Access > Magnifier.

To increase text size on Apple computers, navigate to System Settings > Accessibility > Display > Text Size.

Browser extensions

There are browser extensions that provide additional magnification features to complement built-in browser functionality. For example, the Zoom Page WE extension can be added to the Firefox browser, allowing you to magnify either the entire page or just the text. For example, the Zoom for Google Chrome extension can be added to the Chrome browser.

Screen reader use

A screen reader is a program that converts on-screen content into speech or, with the help of an additional device, into Braille.

The Enefit website is designed to be compatible with screen readers. For example, informative images and icons include textual alternatives, interactive elements have their name, role and value defined in the code and the page structure ensures information can be consumed in a logical order.

Enefit.ee has been designed and tested to be compatible with at least the following combinations of assistive technologies:

  • Chrome browser on Windows with the JAWS screen reader;
  • Safari browser on iOS devices with the VoiceOver screen reader.
