New battery and solar park management software thinks like an investor

Enefit has launched management software Algo for business customers, which transforms battery and solar parks into active market participants and can increase the profitability of a solar park up to 50%.

‘Drawing on our long-term experience, we have developed a state-of-the-art algorithm that leverages the latest and most detailed forecasting models, which we also use to ensure the maximum efficiency of our production assets,’ said Roland Murakas, Head of B2B Segment at Enefit. ‘As a result of extensive development, we can now offer this solution to our customers with production and storage facilities.’

The management software analyses the impact of different variables: solar energy production, household or business own consumption, battery condition, applicable electricity tariffs such as network charges, taxes and excise duties, Nord Pool prices and flexibility market opportunities. Based on this, the software optimises the operation of the solar park and battery, and maximises the owner’s revenue.

‘Algo uses weather data and forecasts specific to the customer’s location to determine how the weather affects energy production,’ explained Murakas. ‘This way, Algo learns to predict solar panel output more accurately and manage battery usage more effectively,’ he added.

Algo trades on all energy and frequency markets, including Nord Pool’s day-ahead and intraday markets, as well as the FCR, aFRR and mFRR flexibility markets. The exact markets in which Algo trades depend on the technical parameters of the customer’s assets, flexibility and preferences.

Algo can manage both standalone and interconnected battery and solar parks. The software can manage standalone solar parks equipped with Huawei inverters that have a capacity of more than 300 kW. In battery parks, Algo is compatible with Pixii, Solax, Huawei and Solis inverters. The compatibility of other inverters must be assessed individually. ‘Our aim is to continuously update the list of compatible inverters. We assess the compatibility of each inverter individually based on specific technical parameters,’ added Murakas. The installation of a controller may be necessary to enable integration with Algo.

To use the management software, an exchange price-based electricity contract with Enefit is required and the co-operation is based on a revenue-sharing model, where Enefit earns revenue when the asset owner does.

Enefit also offers a full-service solution for the purchase, installation and management of batteries.
