Charge two batteries at once! Visitors to Estonia’s health trails can now charge their electric cars in six locations across the country

As part of the joint project ‘Charge Two Batteries at Once’, carried out in cooperation between Enefit and Estonian Health Trails, electric vehicle charging points have been installed near the Mammaste, Holstre-Polli, Kõrvemaa Hiking and Ski Centre, Palivere, Kadrina and Alutaguse health trails.

‘Estonians are becoming increasingly health-conscious and environmentally friendly: people value spending time in nature, prefer renewable energy, and the share of electric cars is steadily growing. Our goal is to make these choices even more convenient and accessible,’ said Kelli Toss-Kaasik, Chair of the Management Board at Enefit.

‘Charging an electric car doesn’t have to mean waiting around – it can be part of an active day. This way, people visiting health trails can charge both their own and their car’s batteries at the same time,’ Toss-Kaasik added.

The new charging points are part of the Enefit charging network and can be found in the Enefit mobile app and on the website. The fast and rapid chargers installed along the health trails have a power output ranging from 22 to 120 kW, enabling drivers to add at least 100 kilometres of range in just a few dozen minutes.

According to Assar Jõepera, Head of Estonian Health Trails, the partnership is a meaningful one: ‘Thanks to Enefit, we have taken a natural step forward in the development of the health trails by bringing together movement, nature and technology in the best possible way. Daily exercise supports not only our physical energy but also our mental wellbeing – spending time outdoors walking, running or cycling helps us become more eager learners, more caring family members and colleagues with livelier ideas.’

Sharing the same vision, Enefit, Swedbank and Merko have been developing the Estonian Health Trails network for twenty years. Together, the three companies have brought light to forest trails and have taken care to ensure that people across Estonia can enjoy outdoor exercise comfortably and safely on more than 130 trails.

As part of the ‘Charge Two Batteries at Once’ project, electric vehicle chargers are being installed at 12 health trails across Estonia. By the first half of 2026, new charging points will also be completed near the Kuningamäe, Vooremäe, Paluküla, Valgehobusemäe, Võru-Kubija and Pala health trails. The project will add 29 new charging points to the Enefit charging network.
