Growing demand brings 18 new charging points to Enefit’s network
With the arrival of summer, the electric vehicle charging network has entered its busiest period of the year, and charging volumes are reaching new record levels. To ensure a smoother charging experience for customers, Enefit has added a total of 18 new charging points at its most popular charging locations. The upgrades were completed at Lõunakeskus in Tartu and at Lasnamäe Centrum and Marienthali Selver in Tallinn.
‘For Enefit, it is important that electric vehicle charging is conveniently accessible to people both near home, at work and on the road. Compared to May this year, charging volumes in our public network have increased by nearly 40%. That is why we expanded the network at locations where the demand for charging is the greatest,’ said Robert Kutsar, Head of Charging Infrastructure and Partnerships at Enefit.
At Lasnamäe Centrum, Enefit has opened a new charging park with eight charging points. The total capacity of the charging park is 1,280 kW and the maximum charging speed at each charging point reaches up to 240 kW. This is one of the largest charging parks in the Enefit charging network, offering top-level charging capability in an area visited by thousands of people every day.
At Lõunakeskus in Tartu, which is among Enefit’s most popular charging locations in Estonia, four new charging points have been added. These include fast chargers with a capacity of up to 240 kW, enabling more electric vehicles to be served simultaneously and reducing waiting times during peak periods. As Lõunakeskus is an important stop for both travellers in Southern Estonia and those heading towards Latvia, this expansion significantly improves charging convenience across the region.
At Marienthali Selver in Tallinn, a significant expansion of the charging park has been completed. Whereas customers previously had access to two charging points served by a single 47-kW charger, there are now a total of eight charging points at the same location. In addition to the existing charger, fast chargers with a capacity of up to 180 kW have been added, enabling significantly faster charging and allowing more electric vehicles to be served simultaneously.
The experience of Enefit shows that for electric vehicle drivers, it is not only the availability of a charger that matters, but also its accessibility. That is why the company is increasingly focusing on expanding existing popular charging locations. More charging points at a single location mean a lower chance of having to wait in line and the opportunity to continue the journey more quickly.
In addition to new charging parks, the entire Enefit charging network is continuously growing. The largest public charging network in the Baltics enables convenient electric vehicle travel both within Estonia and in neighbouring countries. When planning longer journeys, it is worth using the Enefit charging map to view charger locations, capacities and real-time availability.
