Enefit Brings Home, Workplace and Public EV Charging into One App

Enefit is migrating all private EV charging customers to the new Enefit Charge app. The change will affect nearly 20,000 users in Estonia, who will be able to manage all their charging activities in one place, regardless of where they charge their vehicle.

According to Donatas Celešius, Member of the Management Board at Enefit, creating a unified charging ecosystem is an important part of the broader electrification of transport.

"EV drivers expect charging to be as simple and hassle-free as any other digital service. The experience should be consistent and seamless wherever the vehicle needs energy. Until now, customers often had to use different solutions depending on where they charged their vehicle. Enefit Charge makes this much simpler by bringing charging management into one place while offering more convenient payment options and new features," said Celešius.

The new app also supports Enefit's long-term vision of integrating electric mobility more closely with the energy system.

"Electric vehicles and charging solutions are becoming an increasingly important part of the energy system. Smart charging makes it possible to shift consumption to lower-cost hours and better align charging with renewable energy generation. In the future, electric transport can also contribute to greater energy system flexibility. Bringing all charging activities onto a single platform creates the foundation needed to unlock these opportunities," added Celešius.

Enefit Charge offers a more convenient charging experience, including faster charging activation and support for payment methods such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. Funds reserved for interrupted charging sessions are released faster than before. The app also supports the Autocharge feature, allowing drivers to start charging simply by plugging in the charging cable once the feature has been set up.

Customers using Enefit's public charging network will need to download the Enefit Charge app, complete the registration process and add their payment methods again. Charging history and other account data will not be transferred automatically from the previous application.

Existing RFID charging cards will continue to work, but they must be registered in Enefit Charge. Each RFID card can be linked to only one application at a time.

During the transition period, Enefit Volt and Enefit Charge will operate simultaneously, giving customers sufficient time to switch to the new platform. Business customers who pay for charging through a monthly consolidated invoice will be migrated to the new platform in the next phase over the coming months.
