Enefit and Rimi bring electric car charging to everyday shopping

Enefit, in co-operation with Rimi Eesti Food AS, has installed fast chargers for electric cars at 15 Rimi stores across Estonia. In total, chargers will be installed at 20 Rimi stores. The new locations make electric car charging more convenient and accessible than ever by allowing it to be combined with everyday shopping trips.

‘Electric car owners expect a fast, convenient and accessible charging experience – that is exactly what we offer in co-operation with Rimi. The chargers at Rimi stores allow people to combine charging with their daily activities and travel across Estonia without concern about the next charging point,’ said Jaanus Riiner, Head of E-Mobility at Enefit.

New fast chargers are now available at the Rebase, Haabersti, Laagri, Männiku, Kärdla, Valga, Võru, Kohtla-Järve, Põltsamaa, Türi, Kalevipoja, Tööstuse, Vilde, Telliskivi and Järveküla Rimi stores. In total, 60 new charging points were added.

The chargers at the Rebase, Haabersti and Laagri Rimi stores are ultra-rapid chargers, with a capacity of up to 320 kW. They were installed with support from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). Up to four cars can be charged simultaneously, with each vehicle guaranteed a minimum of 150 kW of power. Depending on the car, this can add up to 100 kilometres of range in under 10 minutes.

Charging can be paid for via the Enefit mobile app, an RFID charging card or conveniently on site using a bank card.

According to Jekaterina Sirak, Head of Real Estate at Rimi Eesti Food AS, the collaboration with Enefit marks an important step towards achieving the sustainability goals of the company.

‘We want to offer our customers growing opportunities to make environmentally friendly choices without any extra effort on their part. The ability to charge electric cars at our stores supports our goal of reducing our carbon footprint and encouraging our customers to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle,’ said the Rimi representative.

By expanding the charging network, Enefit and Rimi aim to reinforce their shared message that sustainable mobility should be accessible and affordable for everyone. To mark the launch of the chargers, there is a special promotion: all customers who charge their electric cars at the new Rimi chargers between 17 and 24 July will be entered into a draw to win one of two €50 Rimi gift cards.
