Enefit and Forus Takso join forces to make Estonia’s taxi service greener
Enefit and Forus Takso are partnering to make Estonia’s taxi service more environmentally friendly and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in the taxi market. Forus drivers can now charge their vehicles at a special rate on Enefit’s public charging network, making the use of electric cars significantly more cost-effective.

‘In taxi services, work efficiency depends directly on the speed and reliability of chargers,’ said Robert Kutsar, Head of Charging Infrastructure and Partnerships at Enefit. ‘Enefit operates the largest public charging network in Estonia, comprising more than 630 charging connectors, developed to meet customer and market needs. All the electricity used in our charging network comes from renewable sources, helping to reduce carbon emissions in the transport sector and supporting the climate goals of Estonia,’ Kutsar continued.
Forus Takso values quality and closely monitors the environmental impact of its operations. The vehicle fleet of the company consists mainly of hybrid and electric vehicles, with the electric segment primarily made up of Mercedes-Benz EQE and Toyota bZ4X models. In the coming years, the company plans to significantly expand the number of electric cars in its fleet.
The transition to electric vehicles will cut the carbon emissions of a single taxi by nearly half – approximately 4.6 tonnes per year. This reduction is equivalent to about 20 flights between Tallinn and London or the carbon offset achieved by planting 200 trees.
‘Electric cars are no longer an experiment for us, but a viable and economically sound choice. We are seeing more and more customers who prefer electric vehicles and companies are also increasingly mindful of the environmental impact of their business travel,’ emphasised Tiit Isop, CEO of Forus Takso.
On average, a Forus taxi driver drives several hundred kilometres a day. As the company operates in major cities across Estonia, it is important for drivers to have access to fast charging options at all times.
According to Isop, co-operation with Enefit provides taxi drivers access to a reliable charging infrastructure and gives customers the confidence that their journeys contribute to a more sustainable future.
The partnership between Enefit and Forus Takso provides a strong foundation for making everyday travel in Estonia more environmentally friendly, demonstrating how innovation and responsibility can work together to shape the future of transport.
