Enefit opened the first ultra-fast chargers built with European support

The first ultra-fast chargers for electric cars, built with support from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), have been added to Enefit's charging network. The chargers were installed in Tallinn, Tartu and Pärnu.

‘These are more powerful than average chargers, so we installed them along major highways so that drivers can quickly and conveniently fill their electric car batteries in addition to their grocery bags before embarking on a long journey,’ said Jaanus Riiner, Enefit's e-mobility business manager.

The chargers are located at the following locations:

  • Laagri Rimi
  • Merimetsa Selver
  • Rebase Rimi
  • Ülejõe Selver
  • Haabersti Rimi

Each location has two ultra-fast chargers with a capacity of 320 kW and the ability to charge four cars at a time. Each car is guaranteed a charging capacity of at least 150 kW. Depending on the car, this technology allows you to charge up to 100 kilometres of driving range in less than 10 minutes.

‘Today, the new ultra-fast chargers are up and running and ready to serve both local and foreign electric car drivers. This is an important step in the development of the charging infrastructure in the entire region,’ added Riiner.

In addition to Estonia, new charging stations were also built in Latvia and Lithuania with the support from CEF. A total of 60 charging points were completed at 15 locations in the three countries. This is the first set of charging stations completed under the alternative fuels infrastructure support round, which aims to support the development of the European electric vehicle infrastructure.

Enefit's public charging network is currently the largest in Estonia, spanning over four domestic markets and comprising of more than 1,450 charging points: 600 of these are located in Estonia, 157 in Latvia, 550 in Lithuania and 144 in Poland. All chargers are powered by 100% renewable energy.

The locations of the chargers and additional information can be found on Enefit's public charging map.
